Independence to Play Season Opener at UNC Charlotte

The Independence will open the 2017 season versus the Charleston Battery at TransAmerica Field on April 1st.

Charlotte (N.C) - The Charlotte Independence will open the 2017 season at Transamerica Field on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Saturday, April 1st. The club will take on the Charleston Battery at 7:00 PM ET with gates opening an hour before game time.

There will be a Season Ticket Holder Kickoff event before the game at Flying Saucer (9605 N. Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28262) at 5:00 PM ET.  Guests feature Independence President Jim McPhilliamy, Independence Chief Operating Officer Michael Behrman, and General Manager Tom Engstrom. 

Opening game ticket prices are $15 general admission, $10 group pricing (10+ tickets), and $10 student tickets with a valid UNC Charlotte ID. Season ticket holders have a reserved section at midfield, and the supporters groups have a designated section near the goal line in the south stands. 

Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here or by calling Patrick O'Leary at 704-206-1520. The team is Moving to Matthews on Saturday, June 17th to the brand new Sportsplex at Matthews. The second through fourth game venues are still to be announced. Single game tickets will go on sale Wednesday, March 1st.
