Pittsburgh (PA) — The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team battled the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Highmark Stadium. A game which lengthened by an hour-long weather delay, saw the first Independence clean sheet of the 2019 season.
The complexion of the match changed in the 36th minute when Riverhounds defender Joseph Greenspan was shown a second yellow, resulting in the home side playing with 10 players for the remainder of the match. However, the Independence was not able to take capitalize on the man-advantage being out-shot 6-to-15.
18-year-old Independence goalkeeper Curtis Anderson recorded three saves en route to the club's first clean sheet since August of 2018 when the Independence played the Riverhounds.
