CHARLOTTE – As part of the “One Club, One Love” campaign, the Charlotte Independence and Charlotte Independence Soccer Club staff have teamed up with Heal Charlotte, club corporate partners, and first-team players to provide free community clinics over the next 12 months.

After a successful first two clinics in August and October, the third clinic of the year will take place on Saturday, Dec. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Keith Family YMCA.

The session will be free to the first 40 kids, 6 years to 12 years old. To sign-up, please contact Greg Jackson at

Jackson, Founder, Heal Charlotte, said: “This is an awesome opportunity to have some sports activities for the kids in the midst of COVID-19. We want to thank the Charlotte Independence, Brandon Miller, and the Keith family YMCA. We can’t wait to continue this partnership.”

The Independence have also teamed up with three of their corporate partners: Famous Toastery, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Novant Health. Famous Toastery will provide nutritious lunches for the participants. Dick’s Sporting Goods has donated soccer equipment to be used for the clinic and Novant Health will be providing masks and additional health resources to every child.

The goals of the clinics are to reach kids 6 to 12 years old, with a positive message about physical fitness, nutrition and values learned through sports. The other goal of the clinics is to drive awareness of and donations to non-profit organizations that serve the greater Charlotte region.

The Independence will host at least 20 more clinics, similar to next Saturday, over the course of 2021 with a goal to benefit areas of the community that are underserved and economically challenged, especially in the face of the global pandemic,

About Heal Charlotte

Heal Charlotte was birthed in November 2017 shortly after the protest and riots in the city of Charlotte. Feeling the need to be abridge of communication between citizens and their City officials Founder Greg Jackson wanted to address the real issues that have been swept under the rug of the city for years. Along with his partner in crime Antuan Smith, the two have been able to bring the community together through countless events, starting the #HCDAYOUTHCAMP and training over 80 officers of the CMPD for the new Constructive Conversational Team. With four years under their belt, Heal Charlotte has become a driving force in community engagement, wellness and growth for the youth of Charlotte.
