Charlotte, N.C. — Queen City Soccer Club LLC announced today that Novant Health has re-signed as presenting sponsor of the Charlotte Independence through the 2020 season.
Novant Health, the official healthcare provider of the Charlotte Independence since the team's inception, advanced to kit sponsor prior to the 2017 season and will continue to be featured on the front of the team’s jerseys, along with other prominent placement on team apparel, website, print collateral, digital assets and signage.
Under the agreement, Novant Health will remain the exclusive provider of medical care to Charlotte Independence players, provide an athletic trainer, team primary care and sports medicine physicians (Dr. Kyle Pope and Dr. Karan Shukla), team orthopedist (Dr. James Romanowski) and on-site medical services on game days. Additionally, a team Performance Coach will be provided by Novant Health Sports and Performance Medicine powered by EXOS.
“Not only does Novant Health provide remarkable healthcare, they are remarkable partners,” said Jim McPhilliamy, Independence President & Managing Partner. “They led the Charlotte business community’s support of the Independence when times were uncertain. Having Novant Health on our players’ and fans’ jerseys for the next three years just serves to reaffirm the strength of our partnership.”
“I am excited to continue our relationship with Novant Health,” added Mike Jeffries, Independence Head Coach. “With Novant Health, our players have 24/7 coverage when it comes to injury prevention through fitness screening, strength and conditioning through EXOS, and injury diagnosis and rehabilitation provided by their team members. From the moment our guys come in for preseason, they are confident they are getting the best care, allowing them to focus on being the best players they can be.”
“Novant Health is proud to expand our partnership with the Charlotte Independence,” said Jason Bernd, vice president of Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital. “It’s been an honor to support the team since they first kicked off their program in 2014. We are excited to support professional soccer in Charlotte and we look forward to caring for their players and those of all ages who enjoy the sport.”
“Novant Health has been a vital ally to the Independence from day one, organizations that truly share the vision and values of our club. As we look to the future, we could not ask for a more committed and community-minded partner,” said Wade Leaphart, Independence Chief Revenue Officer. “We’re excited to continue working together, on and off the field, for years to come.”
