Preseason slate includes MLS Next Pro and USL Championship opponents
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 29, 2024) – The Charlotte Independence announced today a competitive preseason schedule ahead of the club’s 10th Anniversary season. The 2023 USL League One Finalists will face off against local and regional opponents in preparation for first kick on March 16.
“We were able to schedule a competitive preseason in an effort to be ready for the start of the season,” Head Coach, Mike Jeffries shared. “I am especially excited about the game on March 2nd – a great opportunity for us to reconnect with the fan base at American Legion Memorial Stadium, and get pumped for the home opener.”
The preseason matches kickoff on Saturday, February 10 on the road against Atlanta United II. The Jacks will travel to face the Charleston Battery the following Saturday, February 17. A third away match will take place against North Carolina FC on Wednesday, February 21.
UNC Charlotte will host the Jacks on campus at Transamerica Field on Saturday, February 24 at 2 p.m. This match is open to the public with free admission.
The first-ever MLS Next Pro Cup champions, Columbus Crew 2, will travel to Charlotte for a closed match on Tuesday, February 27.
Two weeks before the USL League One home opener, the Independence will host new MLS Next Pro side Carolina Core FC on Saturday, March 2 at American Legion Memorial Stadium. The match will kick off at 2:00 p.m. and is open to the public. The club is planning a special day for fans with more details to be announced this week.
The 2024 USL League One season begins on Saturday, March 16 as the Charlotte Independence face One Knoxville SC in the home opener.
