QUOTES:
Head Coach Mike Jeffries
On allowing a goal so early in the game
“It was a really poor start, and I’m disappointed to start the game that way at home. That goal was so easy, and we were so poor defensively. Then, you have to chase the game the whole way.”
On the team’s effort following the early deficit
“It took us a while to get into the game in the first half. Towards the end of the first half, we started to have some good moments. The second half, we pushed the game and did well to get back to 1-1. We fell asleep again on the second goal in a game that we worked hard to get our way back into. The energy and the effort was good coming off a hard week, but we weren’t sharp enough in the beginning and paid for it.”
#9 Kharlton Belmar
On the team’s overall performance
“We started a bit slow, and obviously giving up a goal so early forces you to find a way back to level terms. We did a very good job coming out in the second half and getting a hold of the game. We got our goal and unfortunately had a mental lapse and gave up another one. We showed a lot of good effort and were unlucky not to get a couple more in the back of the net.”
#77 Clay Obara
On making his professional debut
“It feels great. It’s always a dream come true debuting professionally, especially in this team and this city. It really means a lot because you can see how the fans support the team. I’m really excited to produce better performances in the future.”
