A Strong Cup Start
The Independence have gotten off to a strong start to their Prinx Tires USL Cup campaign. The Jacks took all three points in Richmond on April 25 and then earned the extra point with a penalty shootout win against USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds on May 15. Sitting second in Group 6 with a game in hand, a victory on Wednesday will put Charlotte on the same points as Charleston Battery at the top of the group.
The two sides meet in the final round of group stage matches in Charleston on July 11.
Jeffries, Dixon Reunite
For the first time, former Charlotte Independence assistant Dave Dixon will face his former club as the newly appointed Greenville head coach makes his return to Charlotte. Dixon spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons with the Independence assisting Mike Jeffries before leaving to serve as the Director of Soccer for FC Carolinas in Waxhaw. Dixon returned to the Independence sideline in 2024 and served as an integral piece to the club’s deep playoff run in 2024 and the ongoing six-year playoff streak.

A Fixture That Never Disappoints
For the 15th time in club history, Charlotte and Greenville will renew one of the fiercest rivalries in the league on Wednesday night. The series has been remarkably even, with each side claiming seven victories in the 14 previous meetings.
Separated by less than two hours along I-85, the regional foes have developed a heated rivalry that consistently delivers entertaining, hard-fought contests. Greenville held the upper hand in 2025, winning two of the three meetings on April 5 and August 9, while Charlotte earned a victory of its own on June 15. With the all-time series deadlocked, another chapter awaits in a rivalry that has rarely disappointed.
The two sides will square off in league play on August 8 at American Legion Memorial Stadium before dueling in Greenville on October 17.
