CHARLOTTE, NC (September 9, 2026) – USL League One announced today that Charlotte Independence head coach Mike Jeffries has been named the league’s Coach of the Month for August.
The Independence gaffer led the club to a 4-0-1 record in August, helping Charlotte claim the top spot in the league table.
“The award is an honor and a reflection of the team winning games, earning points, and moving up the table,” shared Jeffries. “The players deserve the credit as they are the ones showing up every day, finding ways to make us better, and pushing for the results.”
The Independence started August with a statement 3-1 win over Players’ Shield challenger One Knoxville SC on August 1 before following it up with a 1-0 victory over rival Greenville Triumph on August 8. After earning a quality point on the road against Forward Madison on August 22, the Independence returned home to rout AV Alta 5-0, tying the club record for the largest winning margin in a match.

The Independence return to American Legion Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 12, to face Westchester SC on Hispanic Heritage Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and tickets are available here.
