Djedje brings Belgian Division A experience to the squad
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 16, 2023) – The Charlotte Independence announced today the signing of midfielder Rayan Djedje to the USL League One squad. Djedje trained with the Independence during preseason sessions.
“I’m very happy to be here and excited about this new chapter in my life,” Djedje expressed. “I’m going to do everything I can to help the club achieve its goals.”
Djedje advanced through the ranks at FC Metz in France, beginning in the academy levels before rising through the U19 squad to the premier team. The midfielder also played for RFC Seraing in Belgium during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Djedje helped the team finish second in the Belgian Division B to earn promotion to the top flight for the 2021-22 season.
“Only 21, Rayan brings exceptional athleticism and a ball winning mentality to our group. His experience in the first division in Belgium shows in his ability to read the game and his decision making on the ball,” explained Charlotte Independence Head Coach, Mike Jeffries. “He is a super competitive player who fits well with how we play and is capable in several positions.”
