
Montclair (New Jersey) — The Charlotte Independence’s four-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday night in a 4-2 loss to New York Red Bulls II. Midfielders Lucas Stauffer, Andrew Tinari, and Cristian Cásseres Jr scored second-half goals to give the Red Bulls II three points.
The Independence opened the scoring in the game when midfielder Cordell Cato netted his 6th goal of the season in the 23rd minute. Shortly after, the Red Bulls responded with the final goal of the half as Amando Moreno equalized.
The Red Bulls II would score three unanswered goals in the 61st, 62nd, and 72nd minutes. Independence forward Jorge Herrera broke away from the Red Bulls II defense forcing a penalty kick and yellow card from Kevin Politz. Herrera converted the 86th minute penalty for the final score of the night.
The Independence will compete in their fourth consecutive away match on Wednesday, June 13th at Atlanta United 2. Kickoff at Coolray Field is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.
