UPCOMING EVENT: CHARLOTTE SOCCER COMMUNITY RALLIES AROUND MCKENNA WOODHEAD
In the first half of play, neither team edged out an advantage. In the 3rd minute, Independence goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra came up huge with a reaction kick for the Wells Fargo Save of the Game. However, the dynamic of the match changed when the Independence leading goal scorer Jorge Herrera was subbed off for an apparent injury and Jordan was sent off reducing the side to 10-men.

In a total-team, defensive effort, the Independence withstood 16 second-half crosses and six total shots to mark the team’s fifth shutout of the season.
The Independence will return home next Wednesday, August 22nd when Louisville City FC visits the Sportsplex at Matthews.
