Charlotte (NC) — The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team announced the club has worked with Sportsplex at Matthews facility managers to allow pre-game tailgating inside the stadium starting at 5:00 PM ET for 7:00 PM ET kickoff games.
The Sportsplex at Matthews East gate will open at 5:00 PM ET for pre-game tailgating. A game ticket is required for entry into the tailgate. The East Pavilion, which is the covered area in the concourse, will be reserved for pre-game tailgating. Stadium music and tailgating activities will be available. Food and beverage vendors will be available and accepting cash and credit cards. Gates will open at 6:00 PM ET for the entire stadium.
The tailgating option will be available for the Independence’s season-opening game this Friday, March 15th versus Indy Eleven, and all home games for the 2019 season. All Sportsplex at Matthews Stadium Policies and Prohibited Items still apply, including no re-entry. Pre-game tailgating may be altered or canceled due to inclement conditions or changes in Independence and Sportsplex at Matthews stadium policies.
The Independence will return to USL Championship action this Friday, March 15th for the 2019 Season Opening Game versus Indy Eleven at the Sportsplex at Matthews.
