The Charlotte Independence turn a new page on a new month as the team hits the road for the first Southern Derby matchup of the season against cross-state line rivals Charleston Battery. A historic club of the USL Championship, the Battery have qualified for the playoffs in the last eleven consecutive seasons and are off to another unbeaten start to the 2019 season.
Charleston makes consecutive Southern Derby appearances, playing last Saturday at Sahlen Stadium versus North Carolina FC, coming away with one point. Prior to that matchup, Mike Anhausers’ side notched a week one draw versus Ottawa Fury and a 2-1 win versus Hartford Athletic a week later.
