Charlotte (NC) — The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team announced midfielder Afrim Taku has been acquired by the Tampa Bay Rowdies on undisclosed terms, pending league and federation approval. The Independence thanks Afrim for his service to the club and Charlotte community this season.
Taku signed with the Independence this past February and recorded 25 starts, 2,174 minutes played and two assists during the 2019 season. The Albanian international midfielder was a midseason acquisition for Tampa Bay in 2018.
The Independence will continue in USL Championship action this Saturday, September 21st versus the Swope Park Rangers at the Sportsplex at Matthews presented by Grace O’Malley’s. The Independence will celebrate Fan Appreciation Night presented by Accuvision with exciting giveaways. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.
