
Charlotte (NC) — The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team has signed defender Chad Poarch to the 2019 roster. Most recently, Poarch played for USL League 2 side Reading United AC, leading the team to a Mid-Atlantic Division Championship and an appearance in the National Semi-finals.
The 21-year-old is a product of FC Delco U.S. Soccer Development Academy in West Chester, Pennsylvania. In 2016, Poarch was selected by Tab Ramos as one of twenty players for the U20 US Men’s National Team Camp in New Jersey. As a college Freshman, Poarch attended High Point University when he recorded 19 games played, three assists and a goal. In 2017, Poarch transferred to Delaware University. A native of Middletown, Delaware, Poarch began his youth career at Kirkwood Soccer Club.
Poarch is the final addition to the 2019 roster due to the USL Championship roster freeze deadline. The Independence will continue in USL Championship regular season play this Saturday, September 28th at the Sportsplex at Matthews. The Independence will host a Fall Festival which includes fun activities such as inflatables, soccer tennis, cornhole, live music and drawings for free prizes. Gates open at 5:00 PM ET and the Charlotte Independence will face the Hartford Athletic at 7:00 PM ET.
